MUTANANNY Playtest

MUTANANNY is a gritty post-apocalyptic role-playing game (RPG) where you and your friends play as degenerate, garbage-dwelling, fun-loving Mutants just trying to make it through their next awful day. Scavenge for junk, earn your place in the dump where you live, forge bonds with other hideous weirdoes, struggle to survive the muggy terrors of the moistlands, and deal with insufferable pure-strain humans diving down from the moon to reclaim their rightful place in the world.

Distinctive Features

The post-apocalyptic genre is a crowded one. To help you decide if this game is the right way to indulge the yearning for ruin lying within you, here are a few of its most vivid features:   

• Doomed Mutants: you play as a Mutant, a hideous human offshoot whose body staves off pollution by frequent change. This comes with a price – suffer the hardships of the world for too long and you melt down; transmogrifying into a monstrous Snallygaster.
  
• Off to the Races: the big event for your sludge-of-the-earth Mutant is the Mutananny race; a brief but massive festival and off-road obstacle course wending its way around an entire dump. Eager contestants in jury-rigged scrap buggies flood in from the surrounding dumps to take part in the risk, reward, and thrill of motor mayhem.
  
• Soggy Apocalypse: the result of the slow-motion disaster of climate change rather than the sudden impact of nuclear annihilation. It may not even be a catastrophe anymore; it suits Mutants just fine! Delmarva’s swampy, humid environment means off-road vehicles are the only kind that stand a chance, and small boat travel through the wetlands is common.
  
• The Most Dangerous Game: pure strain humans rocketed off to the moon to sleep away the sweltering toxic ruin they wrought upon the earth. Now, they want it back and aren’t going to let a few filthy subhuman mutants stop them. Worse, it turns out contact with your disease-riddled garbage grubbers afflicts them with a deadly plague, and the only cure is Mutant meat…

The current fully playable playtest version of MUTANANNY is 120+ pages in 6” x 9” trade book format. This game runs on METTLE Core, a hybrid dice pool system that prompts for dramatic twists on failed rolls. Sections include an introduction, character creation, engine (system basics), scenes and actions, resources, setting details, and guidance.
