MUTANANNY Playtest Update v0.5!


Cover

  • Awesome new cover art by Michael Bracco of Spaghetti Kiss illustration.

Characters

  • Berserk is back as a Mutation, replacing Dud, which no one liked.

Engine

  • Modifiers changed back to highest bonus and/or penalty only, no stacking.
  • Power surges removed to preserve focus on action surges, which were more popular.
  • NPC stats gives a one-higher pool for using their name as a concept instead of a bonus.

Scenes:

  • Lead in Races now more explicitly tied to whether certain actions are possible.

Resources

  •     Nitro no longer bumps you into an entirely different Speed class, which was absurd, now it lets you sacrifice Score for two Edge, basically giving a risky burst of speed and power. 

  • Many other new vehicle mods added, old ones rejiggered.     

  • Cosmetic mods removed, expanded into a more freeform list of vehicle fashion disasters.     

  • Mods and Vehicle repair now based on their Speed, not Frame.     

  • The merits of small APC wet cell batteries extolled.

  • Lead in Races now more explicitly tied to how certain modifications can be used.

Setting

  • List of obstacles for the Mutananny track with difficulties and consequences.

  • Example Mutananny track shown around one of the Dumps.

  • Race group Check given to make things easier on the guide; each NPC team gets one Check but may discard an ally as a Twist, repeatedly even.

  • Boarding shown as an explicit strategy, though it was there all the time.
